Sneaker Style Report | Copenhagen Men's AW20

Reflecting the unruly weather conditions of the Danish capital, sneaker style at Copenhagen Men's AW20 saw technical and sportswear styles reign supreme.

The centre of Nordic menswear, each year, Copenhagen Men's Fashion Week offers an insight into the multiplicitous and varied realm of Scandinavian design. Elegant and sophisticated, the Scandinavian disposition for both minimalism and streetwear oriented aesthetics articulates a highly specific sartorial outlook. A refined perspective, complemented with a penchant for the functional, is reflected in the sneakers that are paired with the variety of distinctive styles on show.

As always, high-heat collaborations were at in full force. Kiko Kostadinov's partnership with ASICS culminated recently with the Gel Korika, while Nike and Virgil Abloh continue to deconstruct and reimagine classic sneaker silhouettes, this time taking aim at the Dunk Low. VETEMENTS' instantly recognisable venture with Reebok delivered old-school running sneaker aesthetics in the form of the Spike 200 sneaker, and Nike teamed up with UK Grime legend, Skepta, for his take on the '00s classic, the Shox.

Luxury sneakers were out in their numbers, too, with Maison Margiela's Fusion sneaker continuing to turn heads for its rough'n'ready aesthetic and Balenciaga's Track Sneaker contorting athletic footwear style with an exaggerated proportion and a hit of neon green.
