New York and LA are ditched for the often overlooked ‘flyover’ states of the Midwest, sourcing beauty from the strip malls, industrial estates and suburbs that defined Altman’s youth in Detroit. It’s New Americana, and it’s not for the runway — it’s for real life.

Every collection begins with a source of inspiration; whether that’s from a photo, a song or a film, Altman’s research-heavy approach results in design that carries real meaning. American staples are reworked with a sharper eye — boxy jackets, worn-in tees, and Western shirting — keeping its cultural compass firmly pointed towards home. And wherever possible, Carter Young uses natural fibres and deadstock fabrics to keep things small-scale and low-impact.
