END. CURATES: QUIET OUTDOORS

Stripping back the Gorpcore aesthetic, a new wave of outdoor clothing is offering a quieter take on performance.

Outdoor clothing and its place within the world of fashion has accelerated throughout the past few years, becoming a staple subsection of style that promotes technical capabilities, forward-thinking design and performance excellence. Culminating in the Gorpcore aesthetic, the world of outdoor clothing is pivoting towards a quieter sensibility, one that reflects the stillness of the natural world, but is perfected for city use, too. Sleeker cuts, minimal branding and hybrid footwear are to be expected, alongside the signature technical outerwear and form-fitting storage accessories.

Italian luxury outdoor brand ROA have been quietly expanding their repertoire throughout the past few years, building on their line of practical yet supremely stylish footwear with a fully-fledged ready to wear brand. Cast in an earthy palette, their Packable Wind Jacket is paired with the Dot Air Shirt and a pair of Pala Suede Vibram Sandals for a look that is ideal for spring sun, with added protection ensured. Japanese outdoor experts Goldwin opt for similarly quiet and subtle approach, blending sleek accessories such as the Compact Run Mesh Cap and the High Strength Ripstop Shoulder Bag with a waffle knit cardigan and shorts. The Equilibrium Wind Vest adds further protection but can easily be packed away when the sun is beaming.

and wander are no strangers to quiet outdoor sensibilities, with the Japanese brand making their name based on a dedication to excellence in the outdoor arena. Their latest product stays true to their modus operandi, with the 2.5L Hiker Rain Jacket offering exceptional protection from inclement conditions. Mixed with footwear from Hoka One One, the Mafate Speeed 4 Lite Sneaker is the perfect style for traversing the trail. Arc’teryx’s city centred subline Veilance returns this season with outerwear boasting the brand’s trademark low-key outlook. Ergonomic design and minimalist aesthetics sit at the core of Veilance and the Diode Bomber Jacket is the perfect embodiment of their ethos.

Rounding off our Quiet Outdoors edit, Hiking Patrol and C.P. Company take centre stage. Wai Tsui’s brand sees layered light grey pieces introduce a casual technical approach to everyday dressing, with Short Sleeve Shirt and Technical Trousers coupling with Diemme’s Cornaro Hiking Shoe for a hiking look that can easily be transposed to the metropolis. Italian sportswear legends C.P. Company layer up with their Multi Pocket Goggle Jacket and Arm Lens Bomber Jacket in a deep Oceana blue, while ASICSGel-Quantum 360 VIII complete the look with hits of blue and black.
