Nike Unveils Plans for Air Max Day 2018

Celebrating Nike's relentless focus on innovation and the legendary Air Max technology

For Air Max Day 2018, Oregon sportswear giant Nike celebrates a carefully crafted selection of cult classics from the internationally renowned Air Max lineage - all of which share a visual nod to the innovative cushioning technology. Each shoe’s game-changing air unit pushed both Nike Air and footwear design forward. The respective models all evidence Nike’s unrelenting spirit of innovation, turning fresh imagination into reality at each successive step.

First up the Air Max 180 which debuted in 1991 translated every athlete's deepest fantasy of running on air into a reality. The integrated air unit which proudly displayed 180 degrees of visible air technology, provided direct contact between the tooling and the tarmac for the very first time. Returning in its OG colourway, the Air Max 180 will be reissued on February 2nd.

In 1993, Tinker Hatfield rendered the 180 temporarily obsolete (in terms of tooling, the aesthetic has remained at the forefront of global sneaker style) when he developed 270 degrees of visible air on the Air Max 93 which will release on February 2nd.

With the Nike VaporMax Plus, we see the interminable collision of two revolutionary icons — the Plus/Tn and the VaporMax — coming together to celebrate the spirit of Nike innovation with the Tn's caged uppers and the Vapormax's elimination of the midsole with the most daring Air Max unit in history. The striking lines of Sean McDowell’s ’98 classic are given a new moldable mesh articulation, while the VaporMax Air-Sole lends an ultralight ride. The Nike VaporMax Plus will launch on January 25th.

Finally, the Air Max 270 (the first Air Max model designed for the streets), arrives with the tallest heel bag ever seen on an Air Max silhouette. Offering a super-soft ride and an unmissable forward-facing aesthetic, the OG colourway of Nike's latest silhouette will drop on February 1st.
