Rick Owens is famous for his exaggerated proportions and rebellious takes on the ubiquitous. This season, the designer’s DRKSHDW line partners with Converse, and both of those are present. It’s the iconic Chuck 70 that’s brought under the spotlight — named the TURBODRK Chuck 70 Ox — and though it’s recognisable as the shoe we’re all familiar with, the approach leans much closer to Rick’s avant-garde side. The tongue, for example, is supersized and extended, while that famous rubber toe is square shaped — a first for the model in its history — for a look that both celebrates and distorts the model’s famous design lines. The uppers are made using waxed cotton twill, too, and there’s a collaboration-specific license plate detailed at the heels.
