FIELD NOTES: PARIS FASHION WEEK WITH OUR WOMENSWEAR BUYERS

Our womenswear buying team is back with another dispatch. This time, they’re reporting back from Paris. Warning, toes will be on show for SS27

When it comes to fashion weeks, few do it like Paris. The city of love basically invented luxury and while that’s still the central pillar of the week, there’s also a new guard of contemporary brands showing their wares for 2026. Even by Paris’ standards, this year was a big one. Whether it was Louis Vuitton’s Nicolas Ghesquière being knighted by Emmanuel Macron, Olivia Colman hitting the runway for Miu Miu, or Acne Studios celebrating its thirtieth birthday, Paris Fashion Week was stacked with memorable moments.

These highlights might have been the headlines, but, as always, a lot of our favourite bits happen in between. Smaller showrooms, metallic Vibram FiveFingers, and flip flops… Flip flops everywhere.

Our womenswear buying team was in the mixer all week, snapping photos of the best pieces and moments. From Margiela to Vibram, catch up on the aspects of PFW 2026 that might not get the headlines, but will almost definitely have an impact on your Spring/Summer 2027 wardrobe.

Maison Margiela

The Maison Margiela headquarters is always a must-visit because it houses not just the showroom but the creative atelier and also a secret rooftop garden with a view of The Eiffel Tower. The showroom walls were covered in decaying flowers in Glenn Martens’ tribute to Raf Simons’ 2012 Dior couture set design. These florals continued in the collection, which drew a nice red thread through the two touchpoints. Obviously, we love the glittery Tabi pumps.

TOES

Sorry to all the footphobes, but UGLY SHOES FOREVER. Internally, we’re calling this trend OnlyToes, and honestly there’s nobody doing it like Vibram with the iconic FiveFingers. This season there’s a bunch of new colours and fabrications landing which put less of a technical spin on the shoe with bold metallic uppers. Honorable mention to the MM6 leather glove shoes…

Isabel Marant

Isabel Marant’s showroom on Place des Victoires was one of the best of the week. The clothes were great, as always, but the real beauty here came in the styling. They got super inventive with their outfits, and I feel like the combination of different styles of utility pants in incredible faded fabrics with sexy backless tops just encapsulated why Isabel Marant speaks to so many women.

Róhe

Next up was Róhe, which is an Amsterdam-based brand that we have worked with for seasons now, and this showroom really just hammered home why we can’t get enough. Look at the amazing Pankou detailing on the shirting. This is a returning motif but felt particularly special and delicate this season in white silk. On the other end of the spectrum, white shirting in tough parachute fabric just proved how much variety you can bring to wardrobe staples when you’re as talented as Marieke Meulendijks and Maickel Weyers.

Cecilie Bahnsen

The Cecilie Bahnsen show is always magic and this time was no different. I’d go as far as saying that it felt even more romantic than normal. It was amazing to see so many Cecilie superfans dressed head-to-toe in the brand because it’s one of those collections that really shines when it’s all together. I personally cannot wait for the silver sequin pumps to deliver next season.
