In honour of the style's 20th birthday, Nike re-release the Nike Air Foamposite One in the 2009 Eggplant colourway in celebration of the style's two-decade development.
First entering the sneaker-psyche in 1997 as they pounded the court on the heels of Penny Hardaway, the Nike Air Foamposite One quickly claimed its place in the sneaker hall of fame. Now, twenty years on, Nike has announced a re-release of the iconic 2009 'Eggplant' colourway.
Few iterations of the classic Foamposite silhouette have garnered as much hype as the 'Eggplant' release and for those not able to cop the style in 2009 or in the unexpected 2010 restock, it's been a long seven-year wait for the varsity-inspired colourway to go into reproduction.
The synthetic purple upper glints with a subtle iridescence, creating a kaleidoscopic transition of purples, blues, and greens. This cosmic Foamposite shell sits atop an icy translucent outsole, the sticky-gum fabrication reasserting the style's origin as an engineered basketball sneaker blending the best in performance materials with indisputable off-court aesthetic appeal. Premium suede detailing in the lace-surround elevate the sneaker, while the footplate is crafted in a function-focused carbon fibre for ultimate on and off-court performance.
