Men's adidas ZX 8000

If we’re talking about footwear cult classics, the adidas ZX 8000 has to be part of the conversation. It first emerged in 1989 as part of the second wave of the iconic ZX series, pioneered by adidas designers Jacques Chassaing and Markus Thaler who are now widely credited with revolutionising modern running shoes.

The ZX 8000 was the first shoe to be built with the Torsion System — a TPU arch that bridges the heel and forefoot, allowing them to move independently for superior support. It was so ahead of its time, that it’s still used in the modern adidas designs we see today. It quickly spread far beyond the boundaries of running, becoming a staple of ‘90s rave culture in the UK, particularly the Madchester sound. Not only that, the OG ‘Aqua’ version adds to its icon status, dubbed as one of the most impactful colourways of all time.

The ZX 8000 is alive and well today, reissued with the same premium materials, adventurous colourways and supportive Torsion System. Keep an eye out for the recent Made in Germany editions — a premium, limited-edition rendition crafted at adidas' prestigious Scheinfeld factory — as well as incoming collaborations with the sneaker world’s biggest names.
