Following the label's explosive and vibrant excursion into luxury-laden sportswear for SS18, Creative Director at Valentino - Pierpaolo Piccioli - has once again proven himself a master puppeteer keeping the global fashion press on its toes by delivering an antithetical assortment of tailored menswear in a moody palette of navy, black, and grey for AW18.
A darker palette, deftly balanced with a quizzically sobering flash of rave-ready neons, signifies Piccioli's ability to seamlessly shift gears at the house without losing a drop of the Valentino DNA. Such is the robustness of his knowledge of the archive - an affinity for the brand's heritage which sets him one step ahead of many other reigning Creative Directors.
Drawing inspiration from Italy's enviable history of art and music, Valentino explored an emotive and artful side of masculinity for AW18; responding to the decline of stringent rules and design codes which have weighed menswear down in decades past.
