Sneaker Style Report | London Men's AW20

16 January 2020

With scores of fashion aficionados hitting the streets for London Men's AW20, the city proved to be fertile ground for finding the latest and greatest sneaker styles around.

Shirking convention and offering a unique take on the global zeitgeist, London Men's Fashion Week continues to offer a celebration of expressive style and eclectic aesthetics. Blending streetwear, luxury and contemporary styles, sneakers remain as popular as ever, with a vast array of cutting edges silhouettes adorning the feet of London's best dressed. From athletic staples to esoteric collaborations, footwear continues to play a pivotal role in the expression of personal style in the modern age.

Shirking chunky silhouettes for a more technical approach, Nike maintain their dominion over the sneaker universe. The Nike ACG Zoom Terra Zaherra offered a futuristic take on outdoor aesthetics, while the Air Max Plus III made a welcome return for a flourish of retro sportswear style. Salomon's S/LAB series remains a fan favourite, presenting classic trail running tech and a tactical sensibility.

High heat collaborations featured prominently, with AMBUSH's take on the Converse Chuck 70 showcasing an experimental perspective on an icon. New Balance's second joint venture with New York City streetwear brand Aime Leon Dore offered a vision of classic running sneaker style wrapped up in grape and forest green as a reference to up-state New York, while Hoka One One and Engineered Garments militarised the Tor Ultra Low sneaker in khaki for a bold and brash take on the brand's sought-after model. Luxury footwear manifested in the form of Gucci's wool rendition of their classic loafer, complete with their instantly recognisable monogram, while Dior Homme's B23 remained as popular as ever, proudly boasting the French label's Oblique pattern for a boost of their distinctive branding.
