For Palm Angels founder Francesco Ragazzi, designing a capsule for the Moncler Genius project is an emblem of his career coming full circle. Ragazzi started out at the luxury outdoorwear brand, climbing the ranks to art director before setting out on his own and starting a totally disparate LA streetstyle-inspired label. The collection evidences Ragazzi’s clear reverence for Moncler’s rich heritage; here, for example, he takes hold of one of the veteran outfitter’s classic goosedown quilted gilets, remaining faithful to the stellar Italian craftsmanship and form that has made it globally coveted. The Palm Angels voice is intrinsically woven throughout however – in the mirrored silver nylon shell, the royal purple satin lining, and the mock punk rock spike studding on the white leather brand patch that flanks the back. A wet-look black hood rounds off the look to slick, chic perfection.
