WTAPS Boxer Shorts

Tetsu Nishiyama — better known as TET — founded WTAPS in 1997, and the label has consistently operated as a cornerstone of the OG Japanese streetwear scene. Emerging from the Ura‑Harajuku movement, WTAPS arrived just after peers like NEIGHBORHOOD, BAPE, and UNDERCOVER, but quickly carved out its own lane. Nishiyama built the brand on disciplined, military‑coded design, translating field uniforms and outdoor gear into menswear that would evolve into a full collection of WTAPS clothing.

Early collaborations with UNDERCOVER and BAPE cemented WTAPS’ position in the scene, while skateboarding culture propelled its rise, the bones logo becoming a near‑uniform for Tokyo skaters. Alongside that emblem, WTAPS’ GPS coordinates and “visual uparmored” tagline define a graphic language that runs across WTAPS t‑shirts, shirts, accessories and more, with the same utilitarian codes shaping WTAPS jackets.
