STONE ISLAND MARINA SS22: Naval-Inspired Functionality & Technical Materials

Stone Island’s combines navy-inspired functionality with man-made, linear and performance fabrics with the SS22 Marina collection.

The nautical world has long served as inspiration to Stone Island, ever since the label was founded in 1982 by Massimo Osti; Osti was a passionate sailor himself, often using his love of maritime sailing as a testing ground for the technical garments he would engineer. Nowhere are the label’s naval ties clearer than with the Marina line: an off shoot that merges maritime aesthetics with cutting-edge materials, details and treatments.

For SS22, Stone Island leans in on that with the Marina line, combining navy-inspired functionality with man-made, linear and performance fabrics. The outerwear comes in three different colours: solid navy blue, black and marine camouflage, with the latter of the three inspired by divers’ wetsuits and hand painted to simulate the seabed. The materials used, as to be expected, mirror the same approach; outerwear is made using a three-layered material, with a recycled polyester outer, a weatherproof GORE-TEX membrane and a recycled mesh lining.
