Nike, Sacai and KAWS partner this season to celebrate experimentation, reworking the Blazer Low from an avant-garde angle.
Earlier this year, Chitose Abe’s Sacai and KAWS recently partnered to create “Wearable Art”: a collection of experimental apparel that celebrated their shared love of the avant-garde.
This time, the two turn their attention to the sneaker world, joining forces with longstanding partner Nike. It’s the Blazer Low that’s their canvas for experimentation, with the result being as playful and bold as you’d expect from all three.
Chitose Abe’s usual hybrid aesthetic is brought to the forefront, with the shoe’s tongues, Swooshes and soles all doubled up. The palette used is equally as striking — they’re coloured in mismatched shades of blue, yellow and green, nodding to the vibrant hues so often favoured by KAWS. The New York-based artist’s signature ‘XX’ motif is detailed at the soles and tongues, too, to complete the look.
