New Balance and Japanese label Auralee are back working together again this season, effortlessly combining performance and serenity. The two head a different direction to the ones taken previously, however, opting to work on a new model rather than one from the archives. It’s the FuelCell Speedrift that gets the nod this time and it’s a perfect showcase of the two brands’ specialties.
The three-layer composite uppers, topped with a semi-transparent ripstop, capture the depth of Auralee’s famed tonal colouring, providing high spots and low spots that really make the black on this pair pop. Underfoot, things are tech focused, too, with a FuelCell midsole that’s responsive, cushioned and uncompromising in its performance.
