END. and Salomon partner for the first time to create “Sirocco”: a collaboration inspired by the Sahara Desert and the toughest footrace on earth, the Marathon de Sables.
The name “Sirocco” is derived from the harsh winds that originate in the ecoregion the marathon is held, which move from the Sahara at a near-hurricane speed, causing dust to travel from the desert to Mediterranean shores. The result is the phenomenon blood rain: rust-coloured rainfall caused by a mixture of dust and humidity.
Using this as the inspiration, END. and Salomon transform the XT-Wings 2, covering the shoe in an earthy, desert-inspired palette. Breathable mesh uppers are coloured in shades of peach and acorn brown to mimic the Sahara’s sand dunes, dust clouds and the subsequent rainfall it creates, while the same neutral hues continue onto the sole unit. Both the lugged outer sole and the bespoke shoebox reflect the collaborative theme, detailed with prints that mimic the Sahara Desert and its often-harsh environment.
An Agile Chassis system and Contagrip® technology are used in the sole for traction and stability, while the laces are secured using a quick toggle for easy on-the-go adjustments — ensuring they’re more than ready to thrive in the unforgiving environment they’re inspired by.
