In recent years, the footwear zeitgeist has been defined by boundary-pushing designs, ones that employ materials, details and technology in a way that’s unique and hyper-experimental. One creative who sits at the forefront of this is Salehe Bembury: a visionary who constantly colours outside of the lines, partnering with a long list of like-minded brands to further his creative approach.
Now, Salehe Bembury partners with Clarks Originals for the first time, kicking things off with a trio of footwear in his usual idiosyncratic manner. The pair bring the Lugger shoe under the spotlight, reworking it with a slew of unconventional details. The first, and arguably the most distinctive, comes at the shoe’s forefront, with a hairy suede material that’s detailed with a splash-like pattern. The rest is equally as out-there, with cut-out effect panelling and a similar abstract pattern worked into the shoe’s heels. They arrive in a trio of colourways, with green, brown and a vibrant orange iteration.
