Instilled with vintage running DNA, ASICS’ GEL-NYC sneaker perfectly blends the brand’s heritage with a modern outlook and stylistic sensibility. Combining elements from a variety of fan-favourite silhouettes from the ASICS archive, the GEL-NYC serves as a composite and a celebration of all things ASICS.
Built around the brand’s mantra anima sana in corpore sano, “a sound mind in a sound body”, the latest lifestyle sneaker from ASICS offers the perfect confluence of performance capabilities and a striking visual style. Following Angelo Baque’s Awake GEL-NYC earlier this year, the silhouette lands in a duo of low-key colourways that complement the sneaker’s hybrid construction.
Utilising the GEL-CUMULUS 16’s technical tooling as a foundation, the Japanese brand have built this sneaker from the ground up, rooting the model in an aesthetic mode inspired by early 2000s design. Blending functionality with millennium era style, the GEL-NYC’s upper feature elements plucked from the GEL-NIMBUS 3 and the GEL-MC PLUS V sneakers – bringing further sporting details to this lifestyle model.
