Dressed in a black colourway, this athletic garment is embellished with the sashiko technique. A decorative and functional embroidery technique, the sashiko method was originally developed in the Edo period as a means of reinforcing or repairing garments. The practice quickly developed into a decorative technique, now employed by Yamamoto to recontextualise a seemingly staple quarter zip sweatshirt. An interior patch pocket sits to the chest, while printed and embroidered branding sits to the back, embellishing the sweater further.
