END. X AXEL ARIGATO 'GARGOYLE'

Visiting the Northern Italian city of Milano via the United Kingdom and Sweden, END. and Axel Arigato present their debut collaboration dubbed “Gargoyle”.

Celebrating the latest city in which END. call home, the British brand enlist the Gothenburg-based label Axel Arigato to collaborate on a 6-piece collection in honour of the Italian fashion capital - Milano. Inspired by the infamous Duomo di Milano’s 3600 statues and gargoyles, the capsule introduces a subtle twist of gothic style into Axel Arigato’s modern streetwear sensibility across the collection’s apparel and footwear offering.

“It’s been amazing looking to the historic building of Milan’s Duomo for this exclusive capsule collection with END. The iconic gargoyles that the city is synonymous with have allowed us to fuse together Axel Arigato’s modern scandi minimalism with something that feels historic and instantly recognisable. We’re thrilled to work with END. to offer this six piece capsule collection to their customers via this unique and distinctly Italian lens.” Max Svärdh, Creative Director Axel Arigato.

Centring around a duo of sneaker styles, END. and Axel Arigato cast the Area sneaker and the Marathon sneaker in a crisp combination of white and grey, emulating the Gargoyle statues with a stone inspired palette. Inspired by classic sporting sneakers, the Area style offer a luxurious update to the traditional basketball sneaker, while the Marathon interprets the retro running silhouette for the contemporary lifestyle arena.

“We've had the chance to work with Axel Arigato to celebrate the city of Milan the home of our latest store, taking inspiration for the collection from one of the city’s most notable landmarks, most specifically the grotesque stone carved Gargoyles which are prominent throughout the interior and exterior of the Duomo, and can be seen from our base in the city.” Callum Hill, Senior Collaborations Design Manager at END.

Featuring Axel Arigato’s Varsity Jacket, a key piece in the formation of the brand’s DNA, the collection is imbued with a collegiate sense of style, updated for the modern day with their signature design codes. Complete with a popover hoody and a duo of t-shirts, the apparel features a smattering of co-branded details, Milano callouts and Gargoyle printed graphics that nod to the history of the two brands and the Italian fashion hub.

The END. x Axel Arigato “Milano” collection will be available in-store at END. Milano from 28th September and will launch online on Friday 1st September 2023.
