Nike and Milanese retailer Slam Jam reunite to turn their attention to a Swoosh icon, bringing the much-loved Air Force 1 under the spotlight. The approach is heavily inspired by New York and its integral ties to the sneaker, with Slam Jam founder, Luca Benini, channeling the energy of the city experienced on his first visit in the 1980s.
The black iteration, which follows on from the all-white rendition at the end of last year, takes on a similar aesthetic as the earlier pair, with a pared-back colourway that lets the finer details do the talking. The sneaker is crafted from smooth leather throughout, with its middle panelling replaced with mesh for textural contrast. The toe box is perforated, too, which forms the Milanese retailer’s signature flipped "A" logo. To complete the collaborative look, both Slam Jam’s name and Nike’s Swoosh is worked into the sneaker’s tongues, while "NIKE AIR" branding features reversed at the heels.
