If it’s the mid-noughties look you’re going for, you can’t do much better than New Balance’s 992. It’s known for being Steve Jobs’ favourite from its 2006 debut, but this all-black pair is far darker than the signature NB grey he donned. The upper is just as premium, though — combining pigskin suede and sporty mesh — and it’s completed with the brand’s signature ENCAP® and ABZORB® cushioning tech.
