Vitra’s Akari 3X table lamp is handcrafted by a family-run company in the Japanese town of Gifu— whose traditional lanterns inspired its boxy shade. It was first designed in 1951 by Isamu Noguchi and is named after the Japanese word for ‘light’, to reflect both its gentle glow and almost weightless feel.
