Collaborations

END. x ADIDAS TAKES THE ADISTAR CONTROL 5 OFF-ROAD

Speed is a feeling, but over human history we’ve managed to build an unmistakable aesthetic around that feeling. Reinforced panels, polished metal, tread patterns, chequered flags—the world of going fast has always had its own visual language. On The Move is our read on it, pulling cues from Formula 1, rally, and motocross into a wardrobe that holds up away from the track. It runs across a handful of collaborations. This one's with a name we've been working alongside since the start.

adidas is one of our most faithful collaborators, covering everything from exclusive SPZL drops to apparel and footwear. Two decades in, we know what's in the Three Stripes archive and which silhouettes are worth going back to. The adidas Adistar Control 5 is one of them: a mid-2000s runner with enough structure to take a proper rework.

To do so, we took cues from motocross—the grit and engineering of the dirt track. The biggest change is at the base. The original ran a defined toe piece with separate side foxings; ours is a single continuous rubber wrap, closer to the sole unit on a climbing shoe, inspired by the hard-wearing rubber of a tyre. The tongue is moulded and panelled, following the armored visuals of knee and arm guards. Chrome across the stripes picks up the polished metals and industrial finishes you'd find on a race bike.

Chequered flags detail the shoe, the same motif that runs through the On The Move own-label collection, while the box features tyre-tread prints.
