13 February 2023New Balance and Stone Island reunite for an archival-inspired take on the 574 Legacy.
When New Balance and Stone Island first came together in 2013, their design codes merged on the much-loved 577 with a duo of iterations. Since then, they’ve reunited to turn their attention to the contemporary, first reworking the RC Elite and then releasing a bespoke, football-specific collection.
Now, the two reunite to look to the heritage once again, bringing one of the most iconic New Balance silhouettes under the spotlight: the 574. Since its inception, military garb has served as the inspiration behind Stone Island’s designs, with Massimo Osti obsessively analysing utilitarian garments and the finer details they possess. New Balance and Stone Island’s 574 Legacy acts as a homage to those formative years, with earthy, archival tones worked into the tongues that’re patched with a green edge compass logo. It continues at the upper’s materials, too, with olive green suede paired with grid-patterned mesh to complete the look.
