Nike Womens

Nike needs no introduction - but we’ll give it a go. The world's biggest sportswear brand was born in Portland in 1964, when coach Bill Bowerman and athlete Philip Knight started importing Japanese sneakers under the banner of Blue Ribbon Sports. The brand’s first ever employee, Jess Johnson, proposed the name Nike - an apt nod to the Greek goddess of victory - and the rest is history. Nike is synonymous with its sneakers. Believe it or not, Nike’s first creation, the 'Moon Shoe', was made using Bowerman's waffle iron. In 1978, former NASA engineer Frank Rudy had the revolutionary idea to use Air technology in sneakers. Fast forward to 1987 and Tinker Hatfield’s legendary Air Max 1 became the first style to make this technology visible. For the latest colourways of this classic design, check out our Nike women's footwear edit. Or, for a dose of b-ball heritage, take the Air Force 1 for a spin. Bruce Kilgore’s hoops icon first hit the shelves in 1982, the first basketball shoe to feature Air cushioning. This signature style was co-opted by the early ‘00s hip-hop scene, with Nelly’s ‘Air Force Ones’ cementing its legacy. For athleisurewear staples, browse our Nike women's clothing edit. And let’s not forget the unforgettable -  Carolyn Davidson’s signature Swoosh logo, a brand emblem from the early days that has become a cultural icon.
