25 January 2022Undercover’s AW22 collection showcases Jun Takahashi’s distinctive design approach, with everything from his love of films to classic Americana explored.
Undercover has long sat at the epicentre of counter cultures, with the label representing a vehicle for Jun Takahashi’s exploration of the rebellious and unconventional. Undercover, now in its 32nd year since Takahashi began proceedings in 1990, continues to colour outside of the lines for AW22, epitomising the non-conformist spirit that’s driven the label for decades.
The collection represents a blending together of different elements that remain signature to Takahashi’s design codes. There are references to films throughout — nodding to Alfred Hitchcock and his iconic psychological horror, Psycho — with graphics complimented by dark hues to give the Gothic appearance.
As to be expected with Takahashi, classic Americana remains a strong influence, ranging from the oversized check patterns used to garments like parkas, bomber jackets and collegiate-style sportswear.
