When HOKA first appeared, the shoes looked almost absurd. Thick, oversized midsoles flew in the face of conventional running wisdom, prompting plenty of raised eyebrows from a sport that wasn't exactly known for taking risks. The joke didn't last long. Runners quickly realised HOKA's maximalist approach made long distances feel markedly different underfoot, turning a niche trail-running experiment into one of the most influential footwear stories of the last decade.
The collection for both men and women has expanded considerably since then, encompassing road-running favourites, technical hiking shoes and lifestyle silhouettes that have found an audience far beyond the trail. The distinctive shape remains, as does the original belief that comfort and performance deserve equal billing.
