Salomon ACS Pro Advanced

Salomon revives an early-noughties trail runner with the ACS Pro Advanced, updating an archival classic with contemporary technology.

In recent years, technical sneakers have shifted from strict use for performance and into the greater fashion sphere. It’s a move that has coincided with the lines of distinction in contemporary fashion increasingly blurring, with the current state resembling a patchwork of once-contrasting styles.

A label that sits at the epicentre of that is Salomon, largely thanks to the label’s archives being filled with many legendary sneakers — ones that have pushed the boundaries in both appearance and the technology used. With the latest from Salomon, the ACS Pro Advanced, the label takes a deep dive into the archives, reworking the Christian Tresser-designed GCS Pro through a modern lens.

The sneaker very much maintains that techy, early-noughties runner appearance, thanks to a retro-futuristic, grey and silver colourway, cage-like details on the uppers and exaggerated design lines. The sole unit is tweaked to bring things into the modern day, with an Agile Chassis System used for increased stability.
