THE ARIES SS23 LOOKBOOK – SHOT BY CHARLIE BIGLIN

To mark the launch of Aries’ SS23 collection, we partnered with the label to host a competition aimed at spotlighting up-and-coming photographers.

To coincide with the launch of Aries’ SS23 collection, END. partnered with the label to host a photography competition, giving young and talented creatives the opportunity to shoot a captivating editorial to be used across both END. and Aries marketing channels. Following an array of innovative entries, Charlie Biglin was selected as the competition’s winner — a 25-year-old aspiring photographer from Great Yarmouth. On what first piqued Charlie’s interests in photography, he said “I’ve always been interested in photography just from being around my dad when I was younger. I was 16 when I got my first camera which just so happened to be an old 35mm”.

Charlie’s style of photography utilises his subjects as the focal point — often times his close friends — a style which he looked to reference within the shoot. “My inspiration and concept for the shoot was actually to keep it very simple. Having too much going on could end up taking things away from it, and I wanted to keep it in line with that Aries lookbook style for continuity. I also wanted to shoot the models in a way that reminded me of shooting my mates”, said Charlie.

On when he found out he had won the competition, Charlie said “I was actually quite overwhelmed, to be honest. I’m just so used to taking photographs of my mates and my hometown around where I live, so the idea of jumping into a professional studio setting with all of these people was quite a contrast”. On the day of shoot, Charlie immediately came into his stride, capturing subjects with the same confidence and creative flair as he does in his hometown, Great Yarmouth.
