END. X NEEDLES “INDIGO WASH”

Continuing a longstanding partnership, END. and Needles reunite with a five-piece capsule titled “Indigo Wash”.

The capsule represents a celebration of the art of indigo dyeing, offering a unique take on the time-honoured method of fabric treatment. Indigo dyeing — or “aizome”, as it’s known in Japan — plays an integral part in the cultural and textile history of the nation, gaining widespread popularity during the Edo period where it became a staple of the uniforms of the country’s working class. Celebrating this rich history — and Needles immersion in it — END. looks to rework the Japanese label’s iconic pieces through an indigo dyeing treatment. Instead of its usual denim application, END. and Needles look to apply indigo dyeing to an array of different materials, ranging from the brand’s go-to jersey to shaggy mohair.

Needles’ iconic tracksuit, for instance, is crafted from jersey instead of the usual poly and indigo dyed to give it a slightly uneven finish, further complimented by a tonal, co-branded papillon and white striping down each arm and leg. Needles’ coveted mohair cardigan is brought under the spotlight, too, indigo dyed to achieve its deep shade of blue and contrasted with white, converging papillons at the front. Rounding off the collection is a relaxed camp collar shirt and tee, both of which are indigo dyed in flashes of blue and white — almost tie-dye in appearance — and detailed with co-branded papillons at the chest.
