Y-3 Runner 4DBlack & White
Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 puts an avant-garde spin on athletic sneakers once again this season, fusing a sleek performance-inspired upper to adidas’ ground-breaking 4D midsole. The result is typical of Yamamoto – monochromatic, futuristic and unlike any other application of the technology to date. The lightweight textile uppers are supported by strategic embroidery – that also forms shapes reminiscent of those from ‘00s runners – and sit on an all-black version of the 4D midsole. The deeper hue is a far cry from the usual pistachio green, but the intricacies of the digitally printed lattice are still there on display for all to see.
