The premise of Moncler Genius is to allow world-renowned designers to put their spin on the luxury outdoor brand’s inventory. For Palm Angels’ Francesco Ragazzi, the invitation to collaborate marks his career coming full circle – he cut his teeth at Moncler before setting out to start his own label. Ragazzi uses the brand’s signature Italian craftsmanship to show that he’s not afraid to make a splash in the relationship with his illustrious former employer. Here, he deconstructs the classic black hoody, pulling exposed outseams inwards and rendering the hemline jagged and uneven. Silver skulls and safety pins betray his punk rock sensibilities, while the anarchic spraypainting of the Palm Angels name across the iconic Moncler logo on the back speaks of a grey area between awed respect and playful irreverence.
