Combining Jun Takahashi’s design prowess with the Swoosh’s performance-focussed innovation, Nike GYAKUSOU is designed from a runner’s point of view with no detail overlooked. Inspired by the deviation of running from competition sport to leisure activity – a trend facilitated by the bold rebel spirit of the ‘70s running revolution – the runner-favourite Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Trail is altered with the Japanese designer’s considered approach. Realised in red and wearing a rose to the sidewall, signifying a relationship between balance and chaos, the upper is constructed from a quick-drying mesh and features unobtrusive overlays where support is needed most. With tech-infusion at the forefront, this pair wears toggle lacing for quick on-the-go adjustment and combines Zoom Air cushioning and a beefed-up rubber outsole to ensure comfort and stability are looked after no matter the surface underfoot.
