Moncler Genius invites the world’s most revered designers to collaborate on a capsule that takes items from the luxury outdoor label’s inventory and turns them to couture. For Palm Angels founder Francesco Ragazzi, the call to create a collection represents a homecoming of sorts: the streetwear creator cut his teeth at the heritage brand before setting out on his own. Here, he takes Moncler’s signature stellar Italian craftsmanship and uses it to subvert the current athleisure trend, presenting a deconstructed zip-front hoody that is both cosy and cutting edge. Pulling the exposed outseams inwards and reconfiguring the hem into a jarring zigzag shape, he masters a big-impact first impression through cut rather than colour. In jet black it is sparsely market – with Palm Angels tattoo-esque logo on one side of the chest, a leather Moncler patch on the other and two silvertone skulls where drawstring eyelets may ordinarily sit on the hood.
