A different kind of court for Teddy Santis’ Aime Leon Dore, for SS19 the Queens-born creative channels his label’s colourful ‘90s flavour through New Balance’s equally retro runner. The court is transformed into a runway, and charging down the concrete with colour-blocked panels in saturated yellow, navy and fuchsia, the old-but-new 997 builds on the culture-rich lifestyle that Santis has built for ALD; while a nod to the sneaker’s florist pop-up in NYC lies in the botanical insole. Both brands share a love for sportswear nostalgia, and with its advertising taken from old school New Balance ads, this 997 really is ‘The Intelligent Choice’.
