In 1993, Nigo opened a small store in Tokyo's Ura-Harajuku district and unknowingly helped define the future of streetwear. A Bathing Ape emerged from a tight-knit creative scene that fused Japanese pop culture, Americana and an obsessive approach to collecting, quickly developing a visual identity unlike anything else on the market. The Ape Head logo, vibrant camouflage and later the Shark Hoodie would become icons in their own right.
More than three decades later, that identity remains as powerful as ever. From bold graphics and statement outerwear to sought-after collaborations, BAPE continues to shape the culture it helped create.
