Description

A release inspired by Nike's Monarch style and Martine Rose’s codes of transforming the mundane into standout fashion, this completely re-articulated gym shoe plays on her distorted proportions. A model that began by fitting a size 18 upper to size 9 tooling, the result sees an extraordinary shape breaking the rules of a “very middle-America-dad trainer”. Celebrating an American standard with new shapes and ideas, the synthetic leather loses its traditional Monarch form as the uppers spill over the base at the heel and side wall. Rose by name and nature, this pastel pink rendition of the Monarch IV is marked by the designer's signature at the side wall and insole; a memorable start to her first collaboration with Nike’s undisputed expertise.
