Asics x Kiko Kostadinov Gel-Sokat InfinityCoffee
The second silhouette to bear the Sokat name, ASICS teams up with Kiko Kostadinov once again to offer another athletic-inspired sneaker. Wearing a full 360-degree Gel-Quantum Infinity™ midsole like its predecessor, this rendition has an entirely new upper inspired by mid-2000s baseball cleats. Combining an extended tongue and elevated upper to create a unique silhouette, moulded overlays are utilised throughout for deliberate unevenness, with overlaid web-effect caging providing necessary heel support. For the striking rear section, the Bulgarian designer looked towards the performance focussed JY600 Dan Gable Ultimate from the ASICS archive, reappropriating the wrestling sneaker’s iconic design feature. Dressed in a rich coffee brown with black supporting overlays, the tonally branded upper sits atop comfortable full-length cushioning; maintaining the clean lines and staying true to its performance-inspired roots.
