Continuing our Autumn/Winter 2013 Previews, we take a look at Meg Company’s footwear brand Yuketen who present their range of expertly crafted, handmade moccasins and boots as well as traditional luggage.
Set up by Japanese designer, Yuki Matsuda, in the 1985, the brand mixes traditional American designs and production methods with contemporary patterns and materials to produce a quality product that manages to keep in trend whilst having it’s own unique appeal. Matsuda, who’s Meg Company are also the brains behind esteemed American labels Monitaly and Chamula, takes particular inspiration from a 1930’s hunting moccasin; a sturdy boot made from raw hides that wrap the foot finished with a true crepe sole. Autumn/Winter 2013 carries on this inspiration with the brand going from strength to strength.
